Recently, WDI Studios has been working on this BIM Coordination service project partnering with our alliance in Singapore.  Assigned as BIM Team, we all were required to develop BIM model standards, BIM Template Libraries  and Family Libraries, Collaboration Procedure, and  the Project BIM Team defining the BIM Standards and also to adhere as per the BIM Execution Plan.

This development consists a single block of 7 storey multi-user warehouse and factory units.

Our scope of work started when we received the Consultant’s BIM models for every MEP Service (ACMV, Plumbing, etc).

We started off by validating the BIM models as per the contract drawings and resolve discrepancies by raising RFIs to develop the Consultant BIM models into Schematic BIM Models to be used by Builders Construction team.

Several inputs and coordination with Sub Contractors were very useful for performing BIM Clash Detection and Resolving potential clashes within Schematic BIM Models to develop them as BIM Construction Models. In this era of Modular Construction when every builder wants to speed up the Construction process for early revenues to roll-in, while the Construction was on, any on-site changes were clearly and quickly communicated within team and the Construction BIM Models were updated into As-Built Models.

It was ensured that the Key Performance Index (KPIs) increases the meeting productivity, increases efficiency in clash detection and resolution, increases onsite productivity through better understanding, adopt BIM for construction shop drawings, perform quick quantity take-offs and reduced wastage wherever possible. All these was achieved successfully using Revit and Navisworks for BIM or Building Information Modeling.

With ultra-tight deadlines and involving sub-contractors for individual MEP Services, we invested about 3000 man hours to get the job done smoothly and efficiently.
